HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The Department of Arts and Social Science Education at Kaduna State University (KASU) has a rich historical background deeply rooted in the institution’s commitment to providing quality education in the arts and social sciences.

The department was established with the founding of KASU in 2004, as part of the Faculty of Education. Since its inception, the department has been dedicated to preparing educators who are not only knowledgeable in their respective fields but also equipped with the pedagogical skills necessary to teach effectively.

Over the years, the department has expanded its academic offerings to cover a wide range of subjects in the arts and social sciences, including English, History, Geography, Economics, Civic Education, and Social Studies, among others. These programs are designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that integrates both disciplinary content and educational theory and practice.

Throughout its history, the department has been at the forefront of educational research and innovation, contributing to the advancement of teaching and learning in Nigeria. It has produced numerous graduates who have gone on to become successful educators, researchers, policymakers, and leaders in various sectors.

Today, the Department of Arts and Social Science Education at KASU continues to uphold its tradition of excellence, striving to meet the evolving needs of the education sector and society at large through its academic programs, research endeavors, and community engagement initiatives.
